John W. Durandetto, Jr., 79, of North Apollo passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 in Pittsburgh VA Medical Center.
He was born Sunday, May 16, 1943 in Vandergrift, to the late John W. and Helen J. (Slivan) Durandetto. John had resided in North Apollo Borough his entire life.
John was a well-known self-employed gunsmith his entire life, having owned and operated the D & D Custom Rifles for several years. In addition, Mr. Durandetto served as Mayor of North Apollo Borough for several terms.
He served in the U. S. Army in Korea with the 304th Signal Battalion.
John is survived by his sister, Christina G. “Tina” (Les) Daugherty of Kiski Twp., his nephew, Dennis J. (Melissa) Daugherty of Freeport, his niece, Amy C. (Bruce) Yard of Kiski Twp., great-nephews, Dennis J. II and Lucas Yard, great-nieces, Emma & Madison Daugherty, and Sophia Yard.
At John’s request there was no public visitation, a private family viewing was held in the funeral home. John was buried with full military honors accorded by the US Army and American Legion, Post # 175 of Washington in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
