Chester James Rea, Jr., 90, of Allegheny Twp., went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2016 with his loving wife, and his children by his side at his residence.

He was born on the first day of spring, in Creighton, PA, March 20, 1925 to Chester James, Sr. and Mildred C. (Calhoun) Rea. Chester was a graduate of East Deer High School in 1943.

Chester “Chet” was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in WW II as a Sonar Man 2nd Class WMS 492 Mine Sweeper aboard the DD888 Destroyer after enlisting in 1943.

Chet was employed by PPG Creighton as a bookkeeper after 44 years of service, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Rea was a longstanding member of the Allegheny United Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Twp. In addition to being the prayer warrior of his family, Chet (even for his age) had great abilities navigating his computer and technology, truly enjoying music from his collection of his 78’s up through modern ways of downloading digital music. In addition, he enjoyed his friends, watching historical programs, his extensive coin collection, watching sports, especially college football and tennis, and in his younger years doing yard work, and spending time at their condo in Pompano Beach, FL.

Chet leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Dolores Lou “Dee” (Crane) Rea whom he married on August 21, 1953, whom he loved and adored and was his one and only and she meant more to him than life itself. He loved his five children, Jeffrey James (Margaret “Margie”) Rea, Sr. of Parks Twp., Jane Michal Rea (Victor A. Thomas) of Pompano Beach, FL, Charlotte R. Rea Pollick of Allegheny Twp., Melissa Dee Rea (Thomas Bueche) of Natrona Heights, Chad Crane Rea of Allegheny Twp., his 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Jr. Rea (Dr. Kim), Jessica R. (Caesar) Abarca, Jannee L. Boland, Adam Edward Pollick, Dr. Ashley Rea Pollick, Tara M. Lewandowski, Matthew L. (Nancy) Rea of California and Jerry C. (Anna) Rea of Freeport.

In addition to his parents mentioned above, he was preceded in death by his son in law Edward J. Pollick and William and Annabelle Miller, whom helped raise Chet.
