Cora L. "Bo" (Palmer) Foester, 82, of Cabot, formerly of Buffalo Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Winfield Township, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Sycamore, (Calhoun County), W.Va., to the late William D. and Esta (Poling) Palmer. Cora resided in Buffalo Township for 38 years, prior to moving to Concordia. Cora was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., before her marriage to her husband, John, in 1958. Mrs. Foester was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, and formerly the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport. She was a deacon in the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport, as well as helping with Freeport Area Meals on Wheels. She was also the author of a book titled "It Happened in West Virginia," which told of her experiences, with her seven sisters on their farm in West Virginia. Her true avocation was her family and her grandchildren. Cora also enjoyed cooking and reading. Cora is survived by her husband of 57 years, whom she married on June 14, 1958, the Rev. John W. Foester, of Cabot; her daughters, Deborah L. (Charles) Sarver, of Freeport, Connie L. (James) Hughes, of Cranberry Township, and Bonnie S. (Gary) Devlin, of Wexford; her son, John W. (Cynthia) Foester Jr., of Kittanning Township; her eight grandchildren, Shannon (Scott) Murdock, of South Buffalo Township, Jessica (Joshua) Sayers, of Swarthmore, Shane Sarver, of Pittsburgh, Christopher Hughes, of Madison, Wis., Dana Hughes, of Gaithersburg, Md., Michael Hughes, of Redondo Beach, Calif., Eric Devlin, of Emsworth, and Kurt Devlin, of York; two stepgrandchildren, Gary Snyder, of Summerville, and Jennifer (Justin) McMillan, of Ford City; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and her sisters, Leora M. Kalman, of Taneytown, Md., Lora Nell (Delbert) Hewitt, of Jackson, Mich., and Alice J. (Oscar) Ramsey, of Bowie, Md. In addition to her parents mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Dola Palmer, Clara Belle Newell, Grace D. Palmer and Delma R. Kerby. At Cora's request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at United Presbyterian Church of Freeport. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport (724-295-3100). Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023, in memory of Cora.
