David C. Lucas, 80, of Freeport, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at his home. He was born October 11, 1936 in Natrona Heights, Harrison Twp., to the late Bernard E. “Bart” and Violet E. (Morford) Lucas. Dave was a veteran, having served four years in the U. S. Air Force. He was employed at Alcoa, New Kensington, for 13 years, and was a self-employed building contractor. David was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Twp., where he served as a Trustee. In addition, he was a member of the Freeport Area Kiwanis Club, volunteered as a cook and was active with Boy Scouts, Troup # 511, Freeport. He truly enjoyed Freeport Area School District musical performances and attending the districts sporting events. Dave is survived by his wife of 57 years, whom he married on September 5, 1959, Linda J. (Maeder) Lucas, daughter, Carrie J. Emanuelson of Beaver Falls, his sons, Craig A (Kimberly) Lucas of Sarver, Timothy P. Lucas of Sarver, his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Justin, Emily, Matthew, and Andrew, his sisters, Joyce (Ray) Thorpe of WV, Sharon Perrine of South Buffalo and his brother, Steve (Linda) Lucas of South Buffalo. He was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above, his sister, Frances Hanby and his brother, Dale “Coke” Lucas. At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday, April 17th at 11:00 am at Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, with his Pastor, Reverend Robert H. Wilson officiating. Private burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. All attendees of the service are respectfully encouraged to join the family in a time of remembrance, fellowship and a meal with the family in the church social hall immediately following the memorial service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dennis J. Daugherty Funeral Home 324 Fourth Street, Freeport. (724-295-3100). In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, PA 16055
