Dolores Rea Obituary

Dolores Lou (Crane) Rea, 91, of Allegheny Township, went home to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, December 14, 2020, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Springdale, PA, September 24, 1929, to Kenneth James and Fern Margaret (Lehman) Crane. Dolores was a 1947 graduate of East Deer High School where she excelled in academics.

Dolores “Dee”, as she was affectionately called by her late husband, Chester James Rea, Jr. (1925-2016), of 62 years, were teenage sweethearts, and later married on August 21, 1953. Chester “Chet” always told his children how he fell in love with their mother, Dolores “Dee”, when they were children and how he first saw her pulling her little red wagon with her glistening platinum blond hair and knew that one day he would marry her! Their friendship was cultivated over time throughout their adolescence having grown up on the same street.

Out of high school, Dolores worked at Miller Brothers Furniture Store, Tarentum, and after marriage took time from employment to spend time raising her family. Later, she was employed by Sears, Roebuck and Co. and retired as a bookkeeper after 20 years of service.

Mrs. Rea was a longstanding member of the Allegheny United Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Township, were she served as Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir,  and played in the “Kitchen Band”. Dolores enjoyed hand quilting and cross stitching beautiful and treasured gifts for her family, along with calligraphy, ceramics and antiquing. With her MacBook, iPad or iPhone, she was an avid user and fond of FaceTiming her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; watching the Hays Eagles, the Peregrine Falcons and other Live local wildlife cameras; as well as, researching historical information, ordering gifts for family and paying her bills online up until her passing. Dolores was a Lifelong Learner who had the aptitude for learning ever changing current technology and she liked to share her knowledge with her family.

Dolores- Mom/Mum, MiMi, Great MiMi, is adored and will be remembered lovingly by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Always loving” and “ Always giving”. They call her “Blessed”.
