Dominick Eugene "Dee" Julius

Dominick Eugene "Dee" Julius, 96, formerly of South Buffalo Township, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in Renaissance Nursing Home, Richfield, Ohio. He was born March 25, 1920, in Furnace Run, Pennsylvania, and resided the majority of his life in South Buffalo Township. Dominick was a veteran of World War II, during which he served in the Philippines.  After the war, he worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass and later for Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing. At home, he maintained a large garden and took great pride in the asparagus and garlic he grew. Dominick is survived by his sister, Viola Coleman; grandchildren, Missy (Andy) Harmon, Heather (Tommy) Kimble, Karen (Sr. Mary Helen, F.M.), Donald, Gwendolyn (David) Veitkus, Theresa (Vincent) Kalafat, Patrick, Michael, Mary Grace and Gregory; and his great-grandchildren Drew and Bree Harmon, Zoe and Alli Kimble, Faith and Carmen Veitkus, Valentina, Matthew and Mark Kalafat. Dominick was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eurchetta Julius; his wife of 63 years, Alice (Stroup) Julius; and his two sons, Robert L. Julius and Donald E. Julius. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Angelo, James and Albert; and by his sisters, Mary Olinger, Elizabeth Sagrati, Margaret Chapman and Julia Miller. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, at DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, PA (724-295-3100), where at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, a Requiem Mass will take place. Committal services and burial will follow in the McVille Cemetery.
