Dorothy M. Rezak

Dorothy M. Rezak, 90, of Buffalo Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

 

Ms. Rezak was born August 2, 1927, to the late Andrew and Pauline (Micholas) Rezak, and has resided in the Freeport area most of her life.

 

She graduated from Freeport High School in 1945 and AVH School of nursing in 1949 as a registered nurse. She retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp in 1988 after a 30 year career as a nurse in the Dispensary at the West Leechburg Facility. Prior to Allegheny Ludlum, she worked as an Operating Room Nurse at Allegheny Valley Hospital and her adventurous spirit took her to St. Louis where she flew as a stewardess with Ozark Air and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital.

 

Dorothy was a faithful member of the St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport. Dorothy had a loving heart for her family and a passion for taking care of others, especially extended family members. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, pets, and raising sheep on the family farm.

 

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Berness Cribbs of Cabot, nieces and nephews, Thomas (Paulette) Liti, Sylvia Liti, Jane (Richard) Smarick, Susan (Michael) Murphy, Paula (Michael) Alfone, Beth (Kerry) Ramsey, Bobbie Jo (David) Paraskos and Dave (Lois) Posney.

 

In addition to her parents, mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard W. and Joseph E. Rezak; and her sisters, Ann Liti, Wilma R. Kelly, Kathryn Krchnak, Alberta “Birdie” Posney and nephew Kerry Liti.

 

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 16th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport, PA, 724-295-3100, where a parting prayer service will be held on Thursday, August 17th at 9:00 am. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 am in St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport with her pastor, Reverend Ronald Maquinana, as celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Freeport. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport.
