Frances I. Hesselgesser, 95, of Cabot, formerly of South Buffalo Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Jefferson Township. She was born April 4, 1921, in South Buffalo Township, to the late Andrew F. "Andy" and Margaret D. (Kennedy) Sweeney. Frances lived the majority of her life in South Buffalo. Mrs. Hesselgesser was a longtime member of the Shraders Grove Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder and served many years on the session. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Freeport. Frances loved to travel, especially taking cruises. Frances leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Dennis L. (Sally) Fester, of Buffalo Township; her daughter, Carol Betush, of Natrona Heights; stepdaughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Koch, of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Sweeney, of Buffalo Township; and her two sisters, Betty Thomas, of Latrobe, and Jane Redlinger, of Washington, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie R. Fester in 1973; her second husband, E. Odell Hesselgesser in 1987; her daughters, Frankie Neale and Donna Hadden; brothers, Victor, Raymond, Delbert and Richard Sweeney; and her sister, Mary Lou Riddle.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, and from 10 a.m. until funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, PA 724-295-3100, with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Private burial will follow in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington.
