Heather F. Heckman, 60, of Freeport passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in her home with her family at her side.
She was born on October 11, 1964, in Natrona Heights to the late Donald L. Miller and Naomi C. (Scott) Miller. Heather resided in the Freeport area all her life.
Heather graduated from Freeport Area High School in 1983. She then attended Thiel College, from which she graduated in 1987. She earned her EMT certification from CCAC in 1992. Heather obtained her master’s degree in primary education from Clarion in 1994.
Heather worked as a medical assistant in the UPMC Health system and at Rosebrook Nursing Facility. She was a volunteer for the Freeport Fire Department and an EMT for Freeport EMS. She enjoyed shopping and was passionate about Civil War history, especially trips to Gettysburg. Heather’s true avocation was sitting on her porch drinking coffee. She attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freeport and was a former member of the Freeport Area Kiwanis Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Joshua T. Heckman of Freeport, daughter Emma E. Heckman of Natrona Heights, and brother Harry Miller of Colorado.
Heather was preceded in death by her parents mentioned above and infant daughter Abagail Marie Heckman.
Family and friends may call from 1:00-3:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm on Thursday, February 6th, and from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am Friday, February 7th at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport. Pastor Bob Keplinger will officiate.
