James D. Evans, 76, of Freeport, (Armstrong County) passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Kittanning Care Center, Kittanning Twp. He was born on June 4, 1949, in Natrona Heights, Harrison Twp., where he resided for most of his life, to the late Melvin W. and Emma I. (Brenneman) Evans.
Mr. Evans was employed for many different companies including Freeport Transport, Buffalo Twp. Paper Craft, Blawnox, American Rolling Bearing, RIDC Park, Carney Trucking and Pennzoil, both of Natrona Heights. Jim retired in 2005 due to his disability.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, flee markets, working on his car and trucks.
Jim is survived by his companion of 35 years, Jane E. Dawson of Freeport, his sister, Mary Lee Ripper of Apollo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents mentioned above, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Walter H. (Darlene) and Melvin L. Evans.
Family and friends may attend a Celebration of Jim’s life from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport (724-295-3100). Burial will follow Wednesday morning in the Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Twp.
