James “Jim” Cibik Obituary

James M. “Jim” Cibik, 96, of Sarver, Buffalo Twp., (Butler County) passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his home with his family.

He was born November 5, 1928, on the family farm in Leechburg to the late Vincent Andrew and Anastasia (Vican) Cibik. Jim lived most of his life in the Sarver area, after serving his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy.

Jim was an operator on the pickling line for the former Allegheny Ludlum, Brackenridge works for over 45years. 

Mr. Cibik was a faithful member of the St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport. In addition, he was a member of the Slovak Club, Leechburg and the American Legion in Vandergrift. His hobbies were many, including hunting, fishing, tending to his garden and fruit trees, spending time with his grandchildren, and was known for his affection of his John Deere tractor.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of  59 years, whom he married on May 12, 1966, Sylvia J. (Simmers) Cibik, his two daughters, Michele (Gregory) Fink of Memphis, TN, Laura (Mark) Likar of Sarver, Buffalo Twp., and his five grandchildren, Kevin, David, Rachel, Alexander and Joshua.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above, and his siblings, Joseph D., Milton S., John C., Vincent J. Charles Cibik, Pauline Mravintz and Mary Venis.

Family and friends will be welcomed from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 30th at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport. (724-295-3100). Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 31st. at St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, 608 High Street, Freeport (ALL ATTENDEES PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH) with his pastor, Reverend Richard J. Kosisko, JCL as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Freeport.
