Janice M. Schmidt, 69, of Sarver, Buffalo Twp., (Butler County) passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born on July 19, 1955, in Pittsburgh to the late Milton Francis and Helen Lucille (Bender) Hahn. She subsequently resided in Sarver, where she raised her family, cared for her neighbors, and supported a diverse array of farm animals along the way.
Janice was a certified occupational therapist assistant for Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Cabot, where she was involved with Christian Mothers.

In all those capacities, she lived the constant value of helping others. Her “happy place” centered in Ocean City’s NJ beach, ocean, and boardwalk. As a shopping enthusiast, she loved looking for deals – especially at America’s largest family-owned department store, Boscov’s, and America’s Quality Value Convenience television network, QVC.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, James K. Schmidt, Sr. of forty-two years, whom she married on August 27, 1982, her sons, James (Kathy) Schmidt, Jr., Joshua (Stefanie) Schmidt, her five grandchildren, Ashleigh, Emily, Kelly, Holden and Hazel Schmidt, her brother John Hahn and her sister, Judith Hahn.
Family and friends will be welcomed from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, April 3rd at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport.
