Joyce Ilene Ward

Joyce Ilene “Lene” Ward, 85, of Leechburg, Allegheny Twp., (Westmoreland County) passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Pine View Personal Care Facility, Parks Twp., Vandergrift.

She was born on May 16, 1940, on the family homestead in Allegheny Township to the late Sherman and Alberta M. (Eshenbaugh) Ward and has been a life-long resident of Allegheny Township.

Joyce always had a strong work ethic over the years of her life. She was an Assembler for the former Double Delta Burner in Allegheny Twp., and the former OR Plastics in Vandergrift. She then changed courses in her career and went to work at Appleseed Learning Center, where she truly loved caring for the children.

She was a quiet and soft-spoken personality that loved the Lord. Joyce was a member of the former Mt. Hope Church of God, Allegheny Twp, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. Her true passion was her family, with whom she loved spending time at picnics and get togethers.

She is survived by her sisters, Frances Stevenson (Don Blystone) of Apollo, Marlene (Clarence) Brown of Parks Twp., and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents mentioned above, her fiancé, Aubrey R. Snyder on June 25, 2011, and her siblings, Walter E. Ward, Donald L. Ward, Roger W. Ward, John Ward, Dorothy Booher and Lois Jane Erb.

Family and friends will be welcomed from 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, June 8th   at the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport, where funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 9th with the Reverend Jonathan D. Hill officiating. Private burial will follow in the Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Twp.
