Lois Mae (Negley) Christy, 97, of Saxonburg, formerly of South Buffalo Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at The Orchards of Saxonburg.

She was born April 1, 1923 in Natrona Heights to the late Wayne and Barbara (Adams) Negley.

Mrs. Christy resided for most of her life in South Buffalo Twp.

Lois was a member of the Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Twp. She enjoyed doing crafts at various area churches, ceramics, crocheting, and camping.

Lois leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Elmer G. (Carole) Christy of Freeport, Gary W. Christy of South Buffalo, Meredith J. “Merdy” (Marge) Christy of Freeport, Thomas L. Christy of South Buffalo, Melody S. (William) DiEmidio of South Buffalo, her 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and her great-great grandson, her daughter-in-law, Marge Christy of Natrona Heights, her brother, Wayne Negley of Saxonburg and her sister, Barbara (Millard) Shurina of Natrona Heights.

In addition to her parents mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Elmer J. Christy on April 2, 2016, her daughter-in-law, Marilee Christy on May 1. 2016, two grand-daughters, Bridgett & Charity Christy, and her two sisters, Vera Christy and Pricilla Richter.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family will hold a private visitation over the weekend in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport, 724-295-3100. A private family funeral ceremony and committal services will be held graveside on Monday Jan. 18th and then Lois will be laid to rest beside her husband Elmer in the Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. Mandates require that masks or face coverings must be worn to enter the funeral home.

The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ memory to the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, 695 Freeport Road, Freeport,

 PA 16229.
