Margaret R. Rizzo

Margaret R. Rizzo, 97, formerly of Freeport, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Twp.

She was born April 23, 1920 in Freeport to the late Arturo and Maria (Bernardo) Rizzo and resided in Freeport Borough her entire life until moving into Fair Winds Manor.

She graduated from Freeport High School in 1939, then worked for P.P.G., Creighton in the office for almost two years, prior to working as a teller at the former National Bank in Freeport for 40 years prior to her retirement.

Margaret was a faithful member of the St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, where she was a volunteer in the church rectory for over 15 years.

She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Flossie Rizzo, Lena Rizzo, Mary Costantino, Carmela Ravenda, her brothers, Arthur and Alfred Rizzo.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Sept. 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport, PA, 724-295-3100. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday in St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, Freeport (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH) with her pastor, Reverend Ronald Maquinana, as celebrant. Private burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Freeport. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary, Mother of God, Roman Catholic Church, 608 High Street, Freeport, PA 16229.
