Marilee R. Christy, 60, of South Buffalo Township passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born August 7, 1955 in Harrison Twp to the late Richard Michel and Margaret “Peggy” Frederick. Marilee lived her entire life in the Natrona Heights and Freeport areas.
Marilee attended the Faith Lutheran Church, Natrona Heights in her earlier years, then after being married, she attended Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Twp.
Mrs. Christy was a very dedicated, professional, hardworking business woman. Marilee worked first as a medical secretary at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. She then, after additional training, began her self-employment ventures that included, being owner/operator of “Slimmer Trimmer You,” was a partner in “Perfect Ten” of Fox Chapel, then became owner/operator of “Polished To Perfection,” Natrona Heights and also owned and operated Christy’s Deli for over 3 years in the Natrona Heights Plaza. Marilee truly loved working at her various businesses and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marilee leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Gary W. Christy of 37 years whom she married on October 13, 1978, her two sons, Corey E. Christy (Jessica Scholl) of South Buffalo Twp., Ian M. (Jessica) Christy of West Leechburg, threegrandchildren, Maddox, Titan and Elley Christy, and her brother, Chester Wells of Winfield Twp.
In addition to her parents, mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Joseph Wells and her grandparents who raised her, Joseph and Lillian Frederick.
At Marilee’s request there will be no public visitation. A celebration of her life will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6th at the Brackenridge American Legion Post 226, 845 First Avenue, Brackenridge. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport, PA, 724-295-3100. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Four Corner’s Unit of the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620.
