Mary "Betty" E. (Kaltwasser) Cramer

Mary E. “Betty” Cramer, formerly of Buffalo Twp., PA died Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Good Samaritan Hospice, Jefferson Township, PA.  

Mrs. Cramer was born on February 27, 1922 in Freeport, PA to the late John F. and Ida E. (Bennett) Kaltwasser.  Betty lived in Freeport her whole life until entering Concordia Lutheran Ministries 5 years ago.  Betty was a 1939 graduate of Freeport High School. She worked as a secretary for the former Cramer’s Dairy.  She was a life member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freeport, PA where she was highly involved in the church life, volunteering much of her time and enjoying working with all the young children.  She was the treasurer for Trinity Lutheran for 22 years; taught in the nursery department for 64 years before retiring in 2002; and was a member of the church choir and Sunday school.  She was a driver for the Freeport Meals-on-Wheels and was also a 50+ year member of the former Dames of Malta.  

Betty is survived by her children: James Lee (Peggy) Cramer, of Landsdale, PA; Kathleen Ruesink, of Bloomington, IN; and Marianne Cramer, of Athens, GA; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: C. Ted (Janet) Kaltwasser, of Buffalo Twp., PA; William R. Kaltwasser, of Brockway, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Betty was preceded in death by her husband: Harold R. Cramer (February 3, 1970); her parents; 1 sister: Dorothy Tickell; 2 infant brothers; and 1 son: William V. Cramer.  

Family and friends are invited from 6-7 PM on Sunday, May 17, to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 Fifth Street, Freeport, PA 16229, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 7 PM,Sunday, with her Rev.
