Sallylou "Sally" (Riggle) Daugherty

SalIylou "Sally" (Riggle) Daugherty, Child of God, 85, of Parks Township, was called home to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at West Haven Nursing Home from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born on Feb. 18, 1931, in Brackenridge, a daughter of Floyd M. and Mary C. (Duerr) Riggle, she spent almost her entire life living in Parks Township, near her family. A dedicated member of St. Paul's Highfield Lutheran Church, Sally loved to sing with her sisters and spent many years lending her beautiful voice to the church choirs. After her retirement from Peoples Natural Gas Co., she and her husband traveled extensively throughout North America. She is survived by the love of her life, her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Wallace Leonard Daugherty; sons, Kevin P. Daugherty (Deborah), of Apollo, and Brian L. Daugherty (Pam), of Valencia; daughter, Sheryl L. Chesonis (Richard), of Homer City; grandchildren, Erin Talberg (Trever), Cameron Daugherty (Amiee), Megan Daugherty and Sean Daugherty; sister, Faith Matthis, of Vandergrift; and many nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Floyd, Thomas, Jack, Joyce (Bieghley), Rose (Dwire) and Carol (Keim). Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, and from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, at St. Paul's Highfield Lutheran Church, 1595 Dime Road, Vandergrift (Parks Township), her pastor, the Rev. Richard P. Grance, officiating. A private family committal service will be held at a later date at the church cemetery, Parks Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice, 3520 Route 130, Irwin, PA 15642. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport (724-295-3100).
