Samuel J. “Sam” Dilick, 76, of Shady Plain area of Kiski Township (Armstrong County) passed away suddenly on Monday, March 4th, 2024 in Indian Haven, White Township (Indiana County). He was born November 23, 1947, in Pine Run (Westmoreland County) PA to the late Guy E. and Susan V. (Omasta) Dilick. Sam resided much of his life on or near the family farm in Shady Plain. He proudly served his county in the U.S. Marine Corp., during the Vietnam Conflict. He was well known for his work ethics (and has the hands to prove it) as a farmer, deep mine coal miner and as a truck driver, hauling coal. Sam was a member of St. James The Greater Roman Catholic Church, Apollo and his true avocation in life was farming the family farm. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, whom he married on August 22nd, 1970, Linda W. (Dagan) Dilick, his two daughters, Veronica D. “Roni” Dilick of Shady Plain, Brenda (Keith) McGuire of Vandergrift, his son, James E. (Lisa) Dilick of North Apollo, his grandchildren, Taylor and Jason Dilick, Rick, Travis (Sierra), and Cory McGuire, his bonus granddaughter, Angelina Akins, his two sisters, Susan George and Florence (Dominic) “Gig” Brank. Sam was preceded in death by his parents mentioned above and siblings, Ernest, Gerry, Edward, Steve & Rudy Dilick, Melanie Porter, Christine Hughes, Mary Dilick Agnes Dilick and his infant brother Ronnie Frank Dilick. Family and friends may call from 11 am until the time of funeral ceremonies at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 9th at the Dennis J. Daugherty Funeral Home, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport. The Reverend Jonathan D. Hill will be officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard immediately following ceremonies at the funeral home.
