Theoris E. (Howard) Plants, 85, of Freeport, passed away peacefully Monday, May 29, 2017, at Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Township. She was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Templeton (Armstrong County) to the late Amos E. and Laura Agnes (Cousins) Howard. Theoris resided in the Freeport area all of her life. Theoris was a nurse's aide for 16 years at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, until retiring in 1983. Mrs. Plants was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Township. Additionally, she was a member of the former Dames of Malta, Freeport, the former Buffalo Township Senior Citizens, of which she had served as president, and the former Freeport Senior Citizens. Theoris was also a very avid reader. Theoris leaves to cherish her memory her son, Kenneth (Annette) Plants, of Pana, Ill.; her daughters, Judy Beale, of Kennesaw, Ga., Joyce (Glenn) Napierkowski, of Freeport, and Carol Stiller, of Freeport; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, mentioned above, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Plants Jr., who passed on Aug. 21, 2008, and she married on Sept. 10, 1949; her son, James H. Plants, in 2008; grandson, Phillip A. Beale Jr., in 1995; an infant daughter, Nancy Jean, in 1952; and her siblings, Sara Baker, Wanda Sarver, Joseph P. Howard, Harry E. Howard, John Howard, Lewis D. Howard, William B. Howard Sr., Gladys Howard, Ruth A. Howard, Madeline Beer, Gisela Myer and Lucinda Wolfe. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, PA, 724-295-3100, where funeral ceremonies and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 2, with the Rev. Susan Brown, chaplain at Fair Winds Manor, officiating. Private burial will follow in the Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
