Wazu Kazuhisa Yokoh

Waku Kazuhisa Yokoh, 62, of Natrona Heights, died Monday, March 26, 2018, in his home, as the result on an ongoing struggle with Lyme disease. He was born May 24, 1955, and raised in Kyushu, Japan. Waku came to the United States in 1982 and has since resided in Natrona Heights. He was a graduate of Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he was at the top of his class. He enjoyed his children, gardening, sculpting and casting figures, drawing, painting, philosophy and was in the constant pursuit of knowledge. As an artist, he was precise and passionate. Waku was self-employed and spent much of his time helping extended family and friends maintain their homes. He is survived by his two children, Alexander, of Natrona Heights, and Elizabeth (Joshua Tanzer), of California; his former wife, Kathleen, of Natrona Heights; and numerous in-laws; his family in Japan; his mother, Taeko; sister, Hatsuyo; brother, Hisanori; nephews, Tomohiko, Bungo and Kazutaka; and niece, Sakie. Three of them have traveled from Japan for Waku's funeral. He was predeceased by his father, Masatoshi; and an infant daughter, Sarah. At the family's request, there will be no public visitation. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, in Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St., Tarentum, PA 15084, with the Rev. Robert D. Dayton officiating. Interment will follow in Freeport Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth St., Freeport, 724-295-3100.
