William C. “Bill” Heyer, 76, of Natrona Heights, Harrison Township (Allegheny County) passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in UPMC-St. Margaret, Pittsburgh. Hewas born on February 11, 1949, in New Kensington, to the late Clarence Elmer and Ruth Caroline (Ortman) Heyer. While Bill was working for the Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh district he would be mobilized to go on hurricane disasters. After his retirement he went to work for FEMA through the Corps of Engineers and continued to work on Hurricane and flooding disasters. He was a U.S. Army Veteran after serving 30 years as a Staff Sergeant. Bill was a methodist by faith and his true avocation in life was building things. He is survived by his wife of 55 ½ years, whom he married on July 12, 1969, Joy M. (Schrecongost) Heyer, his sons, Chad (Monique Monson) Heyer of Allegheny Twp., Todd M. Heyer of Natrona Heights, Jefferey A. Heyer of Natrona Heights, granddaughters, Emma Heyer, Jaquekera Monson, grandsons Tyler Spencer, Keuntaye “Buddee” Hamilton, his brother, Clarence “Robbie” Heyer of Washington Twp., sisters, Susan Jones of Upper Burrell Twp., Cheryl Pollick of Allegheny Twp., sisters in law, Mary Ann and Kristine Schrecongost, his nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Piper. William was preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above, and his brothers-in-laws, James E. Jones and Ronald Pollick. At Bill’s request, there will be no public visitation. A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, April 30th at 1 pm at a residence located at 3675 Blue Sage Court, Export, PA 15632. The family respectfully requests memorial contributions may be made to the disaster relief fund. The DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 324 Fourth Street, Freeport (724-295-3100) is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
